FC 105 are winners of this year’s edition of the Gabon National Cup. The Libreville-based Army and Police team beat SOGEA FC 2-1 in the finals played on Monday to claim thief fifth title overall.
FC 105, which finished a disappointing eighth position in the National league carried the giant trophy at stake in addition to 20 million CFA Francs against 5 million for SOGEA FC.
It was the third time since in four years that SOGEA had lost the final of the National Cup after 2005 and 2007.
The final match attended by Gabonese President Rose Francine Rogombé, also formed part of the country’s 49th Independence Anniversary celebration
FC 105, which won its fifth title after victories in 1984, 1986, 1996 and 2004, will represent Gabon in next year’s Confederation while league champions, Stade Mandji will play in the CAF Champions League.
